Google To Launch Self-Destructing Email For Gmail

The tech giant Google recently confirmed that after years of waiting, the Gmail finally gain a new look on the web. It will also come with some interesting features like postpone messages to a future date, and access the Calendar without opening another tab.
This time, TechCrunch and The Verge discovered another novelty: a ‘confidential mode’. It allows you to create emails that are self-destructive after an expiration date. You can set a message to expire after a week, a month, or even several years.

In addition, you may require an additional password to view the message, which will be sent by Google via SMS.
It will be possible to activate the confidential mode on the compose new message screen by clicking on a small lock icon. It turns off the options for forwarding, copying, downloading and printing the email – but it does not prevent you from taking screenshots.
The recipient can see the message even if it is not in the new Gmail design. As to view that message he/she will receive an email with a link to view it and needs to sign in again. It is not yet clear, however, whether this feature will be compatible with services other than Gmail.
We’ll know more details in the coming weeks, probably during the Google I/O conference in May.
